Be Fearless With Change in Your Business
I’ve been fearless in my industry for as long as I can remember. It has served me well. And I have made a LOT of mistakes. But there is not one single mistake that I have done that did not teach me some very important business decisions.
Let’s face it. Change is hard for most people. In my personal life, I had a really hard time changing anything. I take comfort in habit. It took me twenty-eight years of marriage before I had finally gotten the courage to end it. My furniture stays in the exact same location, year after year.
And yet, in my business, the world is my oyster. I love to try new things. I love to hire new people with fresh ideas. I am constantly asking my welding and fabrication employees what their wish lists are. We have purchased some really great new welding machines this year. Last year, I hired a new Operations Manager that had a machining background. We opened up my old-fashioned machine shop that had been closed down for twenty-five years. We reverse-engineered our own sandblasting booth.
If Nothing Changes, Nothing Changes. I love that saying. Investments in my business keep my employees interested and engaged. New machines are like Christmas.
Be smart with money — but do not fear change! Embrace the challenge and have fun.
